剧情简介: Angela Powell has it all. She is the CEO of a successful technology and security firm, the mother of a great 13 year old son and husband Robert, the former District Attorney, is running for the Senate. Although they are the quintessential African-American power couple, the rigors of the campaign, not to mention an overly aggressive and intrusive campaign manager, have caused a rift in the marriage. Derek Pierce, a handsome and wealthy investment banker, is all too willing to take advantage. He meets Angela at a fundraiser and strikes up a casual business relationship. Under the guise of securing her professional services, Derek manages to use his charm to win her over. It\'s not long before the two of them end up in several heated sexual liaisons. Soon, Angela realizes that she\'d made a terrible mistake and ends the affair. However, Derek begins a series of terrorizing assaults that lead up to the death of her business partner and best friend. Only after Angela\'s husband is framed for the murder, does she come clean with her colleagues and her husband, whom she will have to rely on, to help her turn the tables on Derek. Angela learns that she and Derek Pierce share a past. Her late father was a State Attorney who convinced Derek\'s wealthy but corrupt father to testify against the Russian mob. The pressure, however, was too much and Derek\'s privileged life ended the night that he watched his entire family murdered. Derek got away, only to return some years later, twisted and psychologically scarred, to seek revenge on the daughter of the man he blamed for his father\'s death. When Angela gets apparent proof that Derek Pierce suddenly died, she feels safe to move her family back to the home she was forced to leave. She will learn that Derek is not dead after all, and if she is to protect her family she must draw out and face a sociopath. THE DISTRACTION is a thriller that shows how one indiscretion can threaten everyone and everything around you.
