Didxazaa (Zapotec), Their mother language, has stood the test of time and has been transmitted through generations, just like the most important of their traditions, Las Velas. Las Velas are celebrated to honor saints or families. People dance the sones (the regional music), wear handcrafted typical gala outfits and eat traditional food till the next morning. This short, originally a film minute, shows, along with its colorful atmosphere, part of the great personal, cultural and spiritual meaning that Las Velas have for a family in Juchitan.
